Live by the Internet, Die by the Internet

The internet has become second nature to society, that it is literally impossible to imagine life without it. These sites gave people the opportunity to share their thoughts and creativity to anyone around the world, as well as staying connected with others in their lives. As the internet became more of a household commodity, so did these social media websites. We were able to see what our old high school/college buddies were up to, whether it was through a youtube video or a status update. And this idea was really interesting to see, especially for those who have established internet personalities or even full-time careers from social media. Everyone is becoming famous and getting their name out because of the internet. Some of my favorite musicians all became viral from putting out viral songs on Soundcloud. My favorite internet personalities all make a living from youtube videos. And I am able to network with so many professionals and get job interviews through LinkedIn. In today...

In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb

Crazy to think that we are only about 7 months into this massive pandemic with no real end in sight. Being stuck at home and not really going out has affected different aspects of my life in many ways, but not all of it is necessarily bad. I figured that the double entendre of this blog post's title is rather fitting, not just because it describes the month of March which is when the lockdown first started, but also because once the smoke is cleared I, and mostly likely everyone else, will come out of our shelters and return to society as completely different people. In fact, as I am writing this I can already think of three ways that the pandemic has affected me. Relationships I'm sure it should surprise no one that I, like everyone else, don't really see as many people anymore. I mean the whole point of social distancing is to keep the virus from spreading after all. Surprisingly I was against the idea of quarantine initially because even though I personally identify as a...

Coming Home

One of the roughest experiences I've ever had travelling was hands down trying to fly home from India during the coronavirus pandemic. To say that shit was rough was an understatement. But it was definitely an experience for sure. Since commercial flights were shut down, we had to wait about a month for the United States to issue emergency repatriation flights for citizens stuck in the country. I still remember how relieved I felt when I got the confirmation email, knowing that after 9 months of being abroad and 1 month under lockdown I was finally going home. I stayed in the city of Bangalore, and the airport in the city was shut down so we had to come up with the next best thing. We had to find a way to get to the closest airport from us. And that was all the way up in Goa, which was nearly a 12 hour drive from our apartment. And given our situation we had no other choice but to go with this plan. But somehow me and five other people were able to formulate a plan and get our asse...

My COVID-19 Experience

Image
I think it is safe to say that in the future when historians look back at the year 2020, the only thing they will ever talk about when they mention this year is the great coronavirus epidemic, or COVID-19 to be exact, and how it single handedly put the whole world on hold. You know, now that I think of it the pandemic is kind of the reason why I even started writing this blog in the first place. It's honestly kind of amazing that even with all our modern technology mother nature will always find some way to be one step ahead of us. Now I'm sure that this virus has affected everyone in some shape or form. Some people died, others tested positive, while millions of hardworking people got laid off from their jobs and are still getting laid off as we speak. It's honestly incredible how this entire pandemic all started because someone from Wuhan, China decided to eat an infected bat that they purchased from a wet street market (at least that's what we think happened). Next t...

The Lakers are the 2020 NBA Champions. But Who Cares?

Image
On Sunday October 11 2020, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Miami Heat in six games to clinch their 17th championship in league history. This championship means a lot of things to a lot of people. For starters, the Lakers are now tied with their historic and infamous rival Boston Celtics for the most championships in the history of the NBA and Lebron James won his fourth title and became the first NBA player to win finals MVP on three different teams. To top it all off, this is the Lakers' first ever championship in 10 years and it seems like the ultimate tribute to LA legend Kobe Bryant who tragically died alongside his daughter Gianna in a helicopter crash earlier this year. On paper, it feels like this championship should be the perfect ending to the emotional rollercoaster that was the 2019-20 NBA season and the legacy of Lebron James, the greatest athlete in the world. Yet for some reason it feels like no one cares. Now don't get me wrong. I watched the game with my friends...

Better Late than Never

Hey there. I see you've stumbled upon my blog. It's nice to have someone who is reading my content for once. Thank you so much for taking the time out to reading this. You have no idea how much it means to me. I decided to create this blog as a way to put all my thoughts out there for the everyone to see. I tend to have a lot of opinions about the world around me, but I never felt like I had the platform or the opportunity to tell others how I really feel. Until now. I've always been much of an introvert my whole life, so I usually feel very restricted when it comes to talking about how I really feel especially in the presence of my friends or family. But every now and then it is important to let out whatever frustrations or thoughts you may have. Which is why I started this blog. Not that I think I'm special or anything but I wanted to be able to express myself on a platform for others to see, so that maybe they can get a different perspective or to feel like they have...
